Rocio Heredia is a fine artist of the Mexican Contemporary generation. Rocio uses traditional metalsmithing techniques of Chasing and Repousse to raise intricate designs on silver, copper, gold, brass and tin. The work of Rocío Heredia reflects the tradition that evolved in Mexico, a tradition rich in the complexities of Spanish conquest and the aboriginal Aztec and Teotihuacan societies. Rocio has studied with the Master Silversmith Valentin Yotkov in New York. Rocio is available and teaches private classes and workshops on her Repousse and Chasing technique in Mexico and abroad. Repoussé describes an object made of metal, that has been shaped or ornamented with patterns in relief, made by specific tools on the reverse side.
